Serving Foster Youth and Foster Families
S.A.F.E. operates on a ranch in Franklin, TN with a focus on 1) educating the community on the desperate need of foster parents and foster homes in Middle Tennessee 2) connecting those individuals or couples interested in fostering with the Department of Child Services to learn more and hopefully begin their journey of certification 3) creating a safe space for foster families to connect and be a support and resource to one another learning about the services available and provided to them through the State and other organizations 4) helping foster parents prepare their foster youth for the aging out process 5) being a resource to the foster youth aging out of the system, educating them on their options and benefits, and most importantly helping them prepare for independent living.
Our programs include our foster a farm pet program, our country birthday bash program, our community building program and our summer camp program. Children and families are educated about our farm pets, many having their own stories of survival. Our farm pets are used therapeutically with our children and families and we strongly focus on the importance of being kind and respecting nature and one another.
As of May of 2015, according to AdoptUsKids.org, there are 8,146 children in foster care and 320 children available for adoption in the state of Tennessee. These children entered foster care through no fault of their own, as victims of child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The parental rights of those available for adoption have been terminated.
Providing a safe, affirming, family environment where families and children are supported through the power of community, nature, kindness, acceptance and education.
